New Season? Add More Compost
At the beginning (and end) of each gardening season, incorporate compost into your garden soil to help balance nutrients and soil pH and add organic matter. Check out our Gardening Resources page for a list of local places that sell compost – including certified organic compost – in bulk. Apply at a rate of 1 or 2 inches thick across the entire surface of the soil and turn in with a garden fork. Apply again in fall.
